The Problems With Communism

If there ever were a true utopia, communism would be the economic system. All people would be equal. Each person would contribute to their ability, and each person’s needs would be met. Excess would be shared as community wealth.

In reality, if all the wealth were split equally today, tomorrow there would be rich people and there would be poor people. If the wealth were split the next day, the rich would lose their incentive to produce.

Socialism: The Military as a Microcosm

Socialism is an economic system. It is inherently neither evil nor good.

Some people will already have their hackles raised just because of that statement. They have been so conditioned to equate socialism with evil, bad, and lazy that they cannot imagine how it can possibly be beneficial in any way. Ironically, many people who jump to that conclusion also have very high regard for the military, and fond memories of military life.

Poor Conservatives: Compounding Idiocy with Hypocrisy

"If the minimum wage doubles, so will the cost of a Big Mac."

"If you think medical care is expensive today, wait until you see the cost when it is free."

"Social Security is not an entitlement. Welfare is an entitlement."

If you find yourself agreeing with the above statements, you are, at the least, out of touch with economic principles and economic realities.

Communism, Socialism, and Capitalism

Regardless of which economic basis is the subject, it is not inherently good or evil in and of itself. The good and evil within each economic basis will be the people who use or abuse the opportunities that lie in each one.

To better understand each economic base in its simplest form, here is a brief description of each and its ideal use:

Communism is the economy of the family. If everyone contributes the most they can, and takes from it only what they need, the amount that is left can be used in many different ways for the enjoyment of the entire family. Besides families, other familiar things that are based on the communist theory are credit unions, farm co-ops, and fraternal organizations.

Free Market Flaw: Limited Government is Undefined

One of the premises of a totally free market economy is that taxation would be significantly reduced in order to maintain limited government functions. Though it is desirable to fund government only as much as is necessary, there is really no definition offered for what that limited government would do or provide in free market theory.
