Poor Conservatives: Compounding Idiocy with Hypocrisy

"If the minimum wage doubles, so will the cost of a Big Mac."

"If you think medical care is expensive today, wait until you see the cost when it is free."

"Social Security is not an entitlement. Welfare is an entitlement."

If you find yourself agreeing with the above statements, you are, at the least, out of touch with economic principles and economic realities.

Losing a Friend Over a Premise and Projection

It is really difficult for me to find people who are able to discuss things like universal construction or existentialism, which is understandable. It is much easier to find people who will discuss social issues, but it seems that many people do not want to discuss resolutions as much as they want to argue their political ideologies. I find, for the most part, that people's political ideologies are more about popularity than about reasonable solutions. I also find that most people concern themselves with their own comfort more than they do about the plights of others. 

That is all fine, but I don't agree with the philosophy of selfishness. Not only do I not agree with it, but I will also never concede that one person's rights are greater than another person's rights because of their circumstances. This isn't something new to me. I have always tried to see things from as many points of view as I can imagine so that I don't make the same mistake most people make, which is believing their perspective is the only point of view that matters.

No Need to Interpret: I Meant What I Said

I wrote a post several years ago that is titled Say What You Mean. Even though I can imagine who inspired the article, it does not apply only to one person or to one incident. There are people who say things that are incorrect, wrong, or both, who, when the error is pointed out to them, say, "You know what I mean." The point of the article is that no one has the duty to interpret an incorrect statement into a correct statement because they know what is meant despite what was said. I stand by what I wrote back then and will provide a link to the article at the end of this one.

This article is for those people who interpret what I say and tell me what I meant rather than accepting that I meant what I said.
