About Me

My name is Tom Koecke.

I am a grandfather, a father, and an author - in that order.

My political views are in line with what I think is best for my grandchildren and children. I identify myself as progressive, and the most important thing in qualifying as progressive to me is taking action to remove corporate money from politics. I have separated my political views from my philosophical and historical meanderings by creating a blog called A Progressive Voter's Opinion

I am an Air Force veteran. I served during peace time in the 62nd Civil Engineering squadron at McChord AFB. The highest honor I served was as a member of the Honor Guard, the primary duty of which is to fulfill our nation's final promise to its veterans. I was most often assigned as a pall bearer. We were the group that folded the flag before it was presented to the family. Here is an article I wrote about that high honor titled My Duty as an Airman and a Veteran.

Conceptual Thoughts is a compilation of my writing that has been salvaged from previous sites along with my current writing. The difference between me and most people is that I think conceptually. It has been both a blessing and a curse throughout my life, but that is just the way things work. Here is an article I wrote about coming to terms with my different way of thinking about things called Welcome to My Nightmare

I also write things that are smart-assed in nature that are not intended to be taken literally. I often use satire to make points. If you don't understand what satire is or how it works, I suggest that you read a serious article that I wrote about the topic of satire titled Seriously: How and Why Satire Works. When I had the opportunity to write a series of satirical articles about Facebook jail, I created a new blog called Satirically Speaking. It was intended to be a collaborative effort, and it still may become one. If so, here are my articles on the blog.

I live near Tacoma, Washington where I grew up in the south end of town. I have in the past worked in consumer finance for thirty years, and then non-emergency medical transportation for ten. I found it difficult to deal with the greed in the corporate realm and the unaccountability of that which is publicly provided. However, I loved the training I did during both careers.

I taught some of my favorite lessons to authority figures. The word I most associate with is iconoclast. Here are the lessons that I taught the regulators who were conspiring to oust the CEO I liked of a credit union that I loved.

I hope to be able to flit my way through life from here forward. What I want more than anything is contentment.

I am on Facebook and LinkedIn. My personal site is Goldwing Tom dot com.

I hope you will check out my books and enjoy reading my blogs!
